In this workshop students will dive deeper into the indigo experience. We will learn how to make and maintain a natural indigo vat, and dye a selection of items using shibori patterning techniques. Students will come away with several beautiful items, and a working knowledge of how indigo works.
Participants are encouraged to bring a 100% cotton T-shirt or similar sized natural fiber item to dye.

I am excited to share something that has been such a source of interest and joy for me over the last 25 years. Indigo dyeing is truly a magical experience. If there is time and interest we will discuss growing Japanese indigo, Persicaria tinctoria, and processing it to yield the magical blue pigment it contains. I intend to bring seedlings with me on the plane - if they make it through security there will be seedlings available for those who are interested in growing these beautiful plants.
