Artist Statement about Piece: The rings in a tree tell the story of a life that often reaches far beyond the recorded activity of human kind on the North Coast. The circular nature of life and repeating cycles are visible in the banded core. We can only access a small part of this language, unable to know what a forest has seen or experienced. What wisdom can be gained if we learn to communicate with the plant kingdom?
